Not since my early years in Chicago and later years in Coral Gables celebrating St. Patty's Day at John Martin's Pub (a great party!) have I seen and felt the spirit of the Irish come alive in Fort Lauderdale as it has since last Saturday's fantastic St. Patrick's Day Parade! We're in the spirit and donning our 'green' for St. Patrick's Day today and an evening out and about with friends...which will be just about anyone who's feeling 'Irish' today...and which will definitely include a few tastes of Harp and/or Guiness draft! It's great to have that Irish spirit back!
There is one rumor going around City Hall types that one wonders about, however. Is it true a certain Notre Dame alum & City leader here in Fort Lauderdale has been actively recruiting a certain 6'7" Planning & Zoning Director (a former Michigan State Spartan, at that!) to be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish's newest Head Leprechaun Mascot for next football season???
Happy St. Patty's Day everyone! :) We'll get back to more serious issues next week! - George Q. Public

This is actually serious business...what an economic and social boost to our city and community!!! With over 2000 parade participants, and thousands of festival goers, this was a new return to "community". Congratulations to that hard working committee that put it together and made it happen...
